Last weekend, Snow Summit officially opened for the season. And because it’s so early, the Big Bear California resort is offering discounted tickets: adults $40, Young Adults $35 and Children $10 for a full day on the slopes. The Miracle Mile and Bear Bottom Beginner area are good to go, plus a few terrain features.
Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on when Bear Mountain will open. Their great snowmaking weather disappeared last week, but they’re keeping their fingers crossed for another window of opportunity. Big Bear Mountain Resorts invested $1.7 million in improvements this year (including new snowmaking equipment) so opening day will be worth the wait!
This season, Snow Summit and Bear Mountain have some awesome things going on, including the Analog Design Unlikely Features Contest, Volcom’s PB & Rail Jam in the Scene, War of the Rails Freeski Event, Transworld Trans-Am Finals and USASA events at both mountains.
Never been to Bear Mountain or Snow Summit? Together, they make up Big Bear Mountain Resorts, the most popular Southern California ski resort. Here’s what to expect:
- 438 skiable acres
- 26 lifts
- the only world-class competition Superpipe in Southern California
- 100% snowmaking with unlimited water from Big Bear Lake
- interchangeable lift tickets
- a free 1.5 mile shuttle between areas
